Dec 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – After the 100% concentration of Ukrnafta shares, the state has determined the company’s priority tasks to be its rhythmic work, providing fuel to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense, critical infrastructure and the population, creating, where possible, "points of invincibility," paying taxes and fulfilling the company’s social obligations to employees, director of Ukrnafta Serhiy Koretsky said.
"The tasks of the supervisory board are more applied and relate to the operating activities of the enterprise. For example, we have the task of shifting financial transactions to state-owned banks as much as possible, initiating unscheduled inspections of the enterprise by the State Audit Service and the State Tax Service, building a proper corporate structure, that is, creating the company’s board," he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
Koretsky said that the company is now at the stage of strategic planning.
"As for investments, we count on the company’s profitability, that is, our own funds. We are also considering the possibility of attracting credit resources for the implementation of development programs and investment projects," the new director said, stressing that he works for the benefit of the company.
Koretsky, who at one time headed one of the largest private chains of WOG filling stations on the market, specified to the agency that he was offered to head Ukrnafta by the Ministry of Defense, to which the shares of private shareholders were transferred.
"I sincerely believe that this is exactly the time and the place where I can make my contribution on the economic front. This is an intuitive position. It is necessary. I think it is right. I am fulfilling my internal civic duty," he explained his decision to accept this proposal.
The director of Ukrnafta indicated that relations with NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, which owns a controlling stake in the company, are "constructive, businesslike, working."
