ECU state trader returns UAH 500 mln of financial assistance to Energoatom

KYIV. Dec 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – State energy trader JSC Energy Company of Ukraine (ECU) returned UAH 500 million of financial assistance to Energoatom in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

"For our company, as a state-owned energy trader competing with powerful private players, it is fundamentally important to show the energy market of Ukraine that ECU fulfills its obligations to strategic partners, despite all the challenges," said Vitaliy Butenko, the general director of the company.

The release also notes that, starting from August 2022, commercial activities in the most competitive segment of the energy sector – trading in energy resources, the company has fulfilled its tasks.

The company, in particular, indicated that its activities are profitable, and the state received additional income from trading in energy resources and by increasing competition in the market. In addition, it is noted that the state-owned Energoatom received an additional guaranteed sale of the NPP resource at market prices, and the state share in electricity exports before its termination reached almost 45%.

At the same time, the state-owned Energoatom, Ukrenergo and Guaranteed Buyer, thanks to the work of the state trader in the export direction, received an income of UAH 2.7 billion, the ECU stressed.

Summing up the results of its activities in 2022, ECU also pointed to the creation of the first state balancing group with the participation of Energoatom to optimize the work of state generation.

"The work of the company in 2022 provided a reliable foundation for strengthening the state’s competitive position in the domestic and foreign energy markets, which we will develop in 2023," the ECU assessed its activities.
