Govt proposes to withdraw from agreement on transport tariffing with Russia

KYIV. Dec 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada withdraws from the agreement on the implementation of a coordinated policy in determining transport tariffs with the Russian Federation.

As representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk said in his Telegram channel on Friday, the decision was made at a government meeting on Friday. The decision approved the bill on withdrawal from the agreement on conducting a coordinated policy in determining transport tariffs, which was signed on January 17, 1997 in Moscow.

The withdrawal is due to the fact that the implementation of the provisions of the agreement by Ukraine is impossible due to the full-scale armed invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, the neglect of the principles and norms of international law by the aggressor state, which leads to significant damage, as well as the destruction of the transport infrastructure of Ukraine, which results in the impossibility of ensuring the safety of the cargo being transported, including transit.
