Ukrtransgaz completes reconstruction of central block of wells at one of UGS

KYIV. Jan 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian gas storage operator Ukrtransgaz has completed a large-scale reconstruction of the central block of wells at one of the underground gas storage facilities (UGS), the company said.

"The work carried out made it possible to increase the service life of the equipment, automate all production processes and save energy during further maintenance and operation of the central unit," the report says.

As Ukrtransgaz informed, the first stage of reconstruction at this underground gas storage facility was carried out in 2015-2016. At that time, 24 gas separators were replaced at the facility and the gas purification process was modernized.

In 2021, the second stage of work began, which, despite active hostilities and their proximity to the underground gas storage facility, was successfully completed at the end of 2022.

The reconstruction made it possible to increase the unit’s service life, automate all production processes, and minimize the risk of accidents due to constant automatic measurement of well performance.

In addition, as a result of the work performed, it was possible to speed up the change in the mode of gas extraction and injection, reduce gas consumption during maintenance of the central unit and optimize the energy consumption of the administrative building, Ukrtransgaz said.
