U.S. increases gas offtake amid cold weather, Gazprom requests 35.5 mcm for transit via Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 6 (Interfax) – Cold weather has forced the United States to increase natural gas offtake from underground storage facilities at a rate that is considerably higher than usual for this time, bringing the current reserves to a level that is significantly lower than average over the past five years.

Gazprom’s request for pumping Russian gas through Ukraine is 35.5 million cubic meters.
