By KYIV. Jan 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU) together with ROSEN Europe B.V. in 2022, carried out in-line diagnostics of more than 2,000 kilometers of the linear part of the trunk gas pipelines.
"In 2022, the in-line diagnostics of the linear part of the trunk gas pipelines DN 1,400 (diameter in mm) – 1,176.75 km, DN 1,200 – 71.91 km, DN 1,000 – 789.86 km" was successfully carried out," the OGTSU said in its Telegram channel on Friday.
The company separately noted the completion of the in-line diagnostics of one of the trunk gas pipelines in the section from the state border with Moldova to the GTSOU compressor station.
"The peculiarity of this section was that gas is transported in reverse flow. Considering that this trunk gas pipeline is the only one for gas supplies to Moldova, the priority of ensuring the reliability of gas transportation is quite high," the operator said.
At the same time, as the GTSOU said, to conduct a survey of a strategically important section of the gas pipeline, a number of non-standard solutions were proposed, in particular, the chambers for launching cleaning and diagnostic tools were converted into chambers for receiving cleaning and diagnostic tools, and vice versa.
"Given the professional and well-coordinated work of all those involved in the implementation of the project, the plan for the implementation of the in-line diagnostics at this trunk gas pipeline was completed on time," the GTSOU said.
According to Yuriy Ziabchenko, Chief Engineer of the GTSOU, the successful implementation of the pilot project for the installation of a temporary cleaning and diagnostic tools reception chamber showed the effectiveness of using this technology.
"This approach will continue to be used in other sections of the pipeline where in-pipe diagnostics have not yet been carried out. The war brought a lot of grief to Ukraine, but also pushed us to be innovators. We will use this experience of in-line diagnostics in peacetime," he said.
