Verkhovna Rada's profile committee to continue work on denunciation of Ukraine's agreements with Russia, Belarus – MP Merezhko

KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation plans to continue the work on preparing for the consideration of legislative initiatives on the denunciation of agreements between Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus in 2023, the chairman of the committee, Oleksandr Merezhko (Servant of the People faction), has said.

"Our committee to deal with issues of withdrawal, denunciation of agreements between Ukraine and the aggressor state Russia, bilateral agreements with Belarus. These are issues of national security. We have a certain plan of legislative work on this matter," he said at a press briefing hosted by the Ukraine-Ukrinform media center on Monday.

At the same time, the profile committee intends to work out amendments to the law on the diplomatic service, which "was created in peacetime and, unfortunately, does not take into account some aspects related to wartime." According to Merezhko, it is about optimizing and strengthening the activities of Ukrainian representative offices abroad.

In addition, the Verkhovna Rada plans to amend the law on cross-border cooperation, as well as ratify a number of international treaties.
