Zaporizhstal masters eight new types of products in 2022, replacing temporary loss of Mariupol plants

KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In 2022 Zaporizhstal Metallurgical Plant launched the production of eight new types of cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel for key domestic and foreign customers.

According to the company’s information on Tuesday, the product portfolio of hot-rolled products in 2022 was replenished with three types of rolled products and three types of sheet products, which were previously produced at the Mariupol enterprises of the Metinvest group.

In particular, Zaporizhstal began to produce hot-rolled sheets with a thickness of 8 mm to 120 mm. Atypical products for the "1680" mill are critical for Ukrainian enterprises for the production of building metal structures.

In addition, Zaporizhstal’s metallurgists have mastered the production technology of two types of cold-rolled coils. The first is a double-mass roll 1.5-2.0×1370-1500 mm in size without a weld, which is in demand in construction and engineering. The second is rolled products with a size of 0.5-0.6×1250 mm from steels intended for further application of zinc coating. Such coils are needed by enterprises producing coated steel, corrugated board, light steel thin-walled structures and other products using the cold roll forming method.

In total, about 10,000 tonnes of new range products were shipped for key customers of Zaporizhstal in 2022. The company’s products meet the high requirements of international quality standards and will be used in the construction industry, mechanical engineering, the pipe industry and the domestic sector.

In general, the metal enterprises of the Metinvest group in Ukraine in 2022 started the production of 24 new types of products. More new products were mastered in the segment of long, hot-rolled coil and sheet products and steel semi-finished products. New positions also appeared in the categories of cold-rolled and thick-plate products.
