Pensions in Ukraine increase by 16% on average in 2022 – PM

KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Pensions in Ukraine in 2022 increased by an average of 16%, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

"In 2022, pensions are indexed and increased by 16% on average. At the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the government has provided additional payments of UAH 300 for people aged 70-75, some UAH 400 for pensioners aged 75-80, and for people aged 80 and over up to UAH 500," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.

According to the Prime Minister, in 2022, about 11 million pensioners received pension payments on time for a total amount of more than UAH 575 billion.

"This was due to the conscientious payment of single social security taxes by employers: the Pension Fund received more than UAH 375 billion. This is almost 6% more than planned," he said.

In addition, Shmyhal said that 2.5 million households received housing subsidies in the amount of UAH 24.7 billion, and another UAH 12.7 billion were provided as benefits for housing and communal services in 2022.

According to him, in 2022 the government paid: UAH 10.2 billion in childbirth benefits; some UAH 13.7 billion for low-income families; some UAH 14.8 billion for persons with disabilities, including children; some UAH 5.5 billion for families with many children; some UAH 29 billion as social insurance benefits, of which more than UAH 12 billion are sick leave.
