By KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In all corners of Ukraine, people should know that they can count on the solidarity and support of Germany, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during her visit to Kharkiv.
According to the website of the German Foreign Ministry, Baerbock called Kharkiv "a symbol of the absolute madness of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the endless suffering that people, especially here in the east of the country, face every day."
"At the invitation of my Ukrainian colleague and friend Dmytro Kuleba, I want to get an idea of the current situation here in Kharkiv, and, above all, to listen to the people who are fighting the war in this fierce cold winter… In all corners of Ukraine, from Kharkiv to Kherson and Kyiv people must know that they can count on our solidarity and support. This includes the winter assistance we provided. Generators and transformers, fuel and blankets now save lives. And that includes further arms shipments," she said.
Also, the German foreign minister noted the importance of "not losing sight of Ukraine’s place in our European family, even in this military winter."
"Ukrainians fight every day for the right to live independently. They see their future in Europe, in the EU. That’s why I would also like to talk about the progress made in the membership process. As the federal government, we want to make concrete proposals to Ukraine to make progress in strengthening the rule of law, independent institutions and fighting corruption, as well as bringing it in line with EU standards," she said.
