AB Agro Project Group starts designing first bioethanol plant in Ukraine

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – AB Agro Project Group LLC (Kyiv), part of the UkrBiotechno association, started designing a modern bioethanol plant for the Ukrainian company Gaztranzit, while the contract for the relevant services was concluded in December 2022.

This was announced on Facebook by owner of AB Agro Project Group LLC, president of the UkrBiotechno association and adviser to the National Investment Council under the President of Ukraine on economic projects and investments Oleksandr Batatin.

According to him, the start of construction of the processing plant is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023 – early 2024. At the same time, the potential of Ukraine to process its surplus agricultural products into bioethanol allows building up to 30 similar plants throughout the country.

"The future of Ukraine is being laid today, because the prospect and importance of the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector and the economy should be carried out in the direction of processing raw materials into products with high added value. Therefore, it is important to start planning and designing plants in order to quickly start building and recovering the economy. Back in the summer, during active hostilities, we made a tough decision to develop the direction of deep processing (bioprocessing) of agricultural crops in Ukraine," he wrote on the social network.

He clarified that the AB Agro Project Group team, half a year before the Russian invasion, conducted an analysis of the feasibility of developing the bioethanol industry in Ukraine and analyzed the market.

As reported, Oleksandr Batatin in October 2022 during a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine said that the development of deep processing of agricultural products in Ukraine could solve the problem of the country’s raw material economy and create a powerful economic effect even before the victory over Russian invaders. At the same time, in order to restore the economy after the war, investments in this industry need to be dealt with now.

UkrBiotechno specializes in industrial biotechnologies based on the use of bacteria, enzymes and yeast, which process agricultural raw materials into bioenergy resources, chemical compounds and consumer products. The Association is engaged in the activities of the agro-industrial complex, which allow obtaining products with high added value – first of all, this is the deep processing of grains and oilseeds, the conversion of beet molasses, and the fruit processing.
