KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Austrian company OBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG), which is part of the national railway operator OBB, in March-December 2022 transported over 1.2 million tonnes of grain from Ukraine, CEO Clemens Forst said.

"Our four top destinations: Hungary – 359,090 tonnes, Germany – 203,820 tonnes, Italy – 185,572 tonnes, Austria – 66,385 tonnes," he wrote on the social network.

Forst specified that 16,286 tonnes of grain were delivered through the checkpoint in the Polish Dorohusk to Austria, through Chop and further through Slovakia – 203,820 tonnes to Germany, while the main deliveries were made through the Hungarian checkpoint Zahony.

Among other destinations, he also indicated the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, as well as the Balkans.

According to RCG’s website, the company has been actively working in the field of grain transportation from Ukraine since March.

"A year ago, we could not even imagine that we would be so involved in the process of transporting products from Ukraine. This was a new territory for us and for Ukrainian companies as well. They exported large volumes before, but not by rail," it said.

According to it, the monthly volume of transportation of grain by RCG from Ukraine by rail increased to 100,000-150,000 tonnes, while before March it did not exceed 8,000-11,000 tonnes. RCG reached the indicator of 1 million tonnes of railway transportation of grain in November 2022 and evaluates itself as the largest European carrier of this Ukrainian product.

RCG, according to its data, is the second largest railway logistics company in Europe, providing services in 18 countries, operating 16 terminals and 12 logistics centers.
