Stock Market Commission admits 412 securities from S&P500 to circulation in Ukraine

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Securities and Stock Market Commission decided to admit securities included in the S&P500 stock index to circulation on the territory of Ukraine, which will increase the total number of foreign securities that can be traded on the domestic market five times – more than up to 500.

"The Commission made a decision to admit 412 securities … that can be accounted for on the account of PJSC National Depository of Ukraine opened with the international depository and clearing institution Clearstream Banking Luxembourg," the regulator said in a release.

The National Securities and Stock Market Commission noted that the entry of world-famous companies into the Ukrainian capital market is the next step towards its integration into international markets and an increase in investments for Ukraine.

The regulator clarified that it has the right, on its own initiative, to grant admission to securities included in stock indices on the basis of the approved regulations on the admission of securities of foreign issuers to circulation on the territory of Ukraine.

The S&P500 is a stock index that includes just over 500 U.S. stock companies with the largest capitalization. Shares of all companies are traded on major U.S. stock exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.

The National Securities and Stock Market Commission clarified that as of December 29 this year, a total of 96 securities of foreign issuers were admitted to circulation on the territory of Ukraine.
