Ukraine cuts export of iron ore by 59% in Jan-April

KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mining enterprises of Ukraine in January-April of this year reduced the export of iron ore in kind by 59% compared to the same period last year, to 5.325 million tonnes.

According to statistics published by the State Customs Service, for the specified period, foreign exchange earnings from the export of iron ore reached $591.5 million, which is 63% less than in the same period last year.

Iron ore was exported mainly to Slovakia (27.37% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (25.82%) and Poland (24.04%).

In the first four months of this year, iron ore for $41,000 in a total volume of 67 tonnes was imported to Ukraine, while in January-April 2022, and iron ore for $1,000 was imported in a total volume of 2 tonnes.

Imports for this period were from Norway (58.54%) and Italy (41.46%).
