Ammunition for HIMARS, 80,000 155mm rounds included in new U.S. military aid package to Ukraine – Pentagon

KYIV. Dec 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The latest package of the U.S. military assistance for Ukraine, valued at $275 million, includes additional ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and 80,000 155-millimeter artillery rounds, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement.

In addition, the United States intends to supply Ukraine with counter-unmanned aerial systems equipment and counter air defense capability, High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs) ambulances and medical equipment, 150 generators and field equipment.

Since 2014, the United States has committed approximately $22.1 billion in security assistance to Ukraine and more than $19.3 billion since the beginning of Russia’s unprovoked and brutal invasion on February 24.

Earlier on Friday, President Joe Biden delegated State Secretary Antony Blinken the authority to direct the drawdown of up to $275 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Ukraine.
