Ankara ready to work with Baku, Ashgabat on Turkmen gas supply to Western markets – Erdoğan

BAKU. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – It’s time to start working on Turkmen gas supplies to Western markets, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.

Erdoğan called for broader energy cooperation at the first Turkmen-Azerbaijani-Turkish summit on Wednesday.

"Nowadays, Caspian gas [from Azerbaijan] is supplied to Western markets through Turkey. It is also necessary to start working on Turkmen gas supplies to Western markets," Erdoğan said.

Ankara is ready for such cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, he said.

Ankara is also ready to discuss electricity imports by Turkey with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, Erdogan said.

The goal of trilateral cooperation is the fullest use of global and regional processes to the benefit of national populations and the provision of regional stability, he said.

This cooperation is especially important against the backdrop of current challenges and crises, Erdoğan said.
