Appointment of U.S. Special Rep for Ukraine's Economic Recovery a positive signal – Shmyhal

KYIV. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said the appointment of Penny Pritzker as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery is a positive signal.

“I have not had personal contacts with her yet but I am sure this will happen soon. I have sent a request through the embassy for her visit to Ukraine… I think next month we are going to schedule a meeting,” he told a press conference on Friday.

The prime minister also said that this appointment is a positive signal showing the United States’ plans to support Ukraine not only during the war but also in the process of recovery after it.

According to Shmyhal, work is underway to develop a format of cooperation between the representatives of the U.S. and other countries that have appointed such representatives as well.

“I have an idea. It has not been developed yet but I have offered it to the infrastructure minister: these people should join the supervisory board of the Recovery Agency. This will add a kind of a synergy to our cooperation,” he said.
