Austria provides EUR 5 mln to Ukraine Energy Support Fund

KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Austria is providing EUR 5 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund established by the Ministry of Energy under the Energy Community Secretariat to accumulate donor funds for the purchase of necessary equipment for Ukrainian energy companies, Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport of Austria Werner Kogler said during a with Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov meeting in Vienna.

"This is the first stage of financial assistance, which, together with the equipment already delivered and which will be delivered to Ukraine, will significantly increase the ability of energy companies to carry out repair work on infrastructure facilities," the Energy Ministry said on its website on Friday following the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation.

According to Demchenkov, the needs of Ukrainian power engineers for equipment are increasing every week.

"We are very grateful to our partners for the financial and material support provided. However, our equipment needs are growing every week. We are considering all options for the fastest possible supply of equipment and materials for the restoration of energy infrastructure," said the Deputy Minister, whose words are given in the press release.

Demchenkov also took part in the panel discussion "Restoring Ukraine: Energy and Green Technologies" of the Ukrainian-Austrian forum, met with the leadership of the Association of Industrialists of Austria and deputies of the Energy Committee of the Austrian Parliament.
