Azerbaijan boosts exports of mineral fertilizer 34.4% in Jan-Sept 2022

BAKU. Nov 21 (Interfax) – Azerbaijan exported 275,702 tonnes of mineral fertilizer in January-September 2022, a sharp rise of 34.4% year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee has told Interfax.

Exported mineral fertilizer overall totaled nearly $163.532 million, growth of 3.1-fold.

Imported mineral fertilizer totaled nearly 68,375 tonnes in 9M 2022, a sharp increase of 38%, amounting to nearly $56.849 million, a substantial rise of 59.2%.

SOCAR Carbamide Plant, an entity of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), is engaged in producing mineral fertilizers in the country.

The plant began operations in January 2019, and started exporting urea in June of the same year. The enterprise combines three production sites, including the production of ammonia, urea, and carbamide granules. Capacity is 1,200 tonnes of ammonia per day and 2,000 tonnes of urea per day.
