KYIV. June 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The blowing up of the dam of Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant (HPP) committed by the Russian invaders on the night of June 6 may have negative consequences for Zaporizhia NPP, but the situation is under control, Energoatom said.
“Due to the explosion, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is rapidly decreasing, which is an additional threat to the temporarily occupied ZNPP,” the company said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Energoatom explained that this water is needed for the station to receive for turbine condensers and security systems. However, according to the report, now the water level is sufficient.
“At 08:00, the station’s cooling pond is full and the water level is 16.6 meters. This is enough for the station’s needs,” Energoatom assured.
They indicated that they were monitoring the situation and observing the actions of the Russian invaders at ZNPP together with the international organizations present at it, including the IAEA.
