KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The indicator of business confidence in the Ukrainian construction market for the second quarter of 2023 improved by 4.1 percentage points (p.p.) compared to the first quarter, to minus 50.3%, the State Statistics Service reported.
At the same time, according to the agency, the indicator of business expectations for the second quarter of last year was about “minus” 70%.
According to the department’s survey of companies in the construction industry, the assessment of the shortage of the current volume of orders improved by 7 percentage points – to “minus” 69%. Thus, 71% of the surveyed companies rated their current volume of orders as insufficient, 28% – as normal for the season.
Some 49% of respondents expect price increases for their services in the second quarter of this year, 7% of surveyed companies predict a decrease in the cost of construction works, and 44% do not expect any changes in their pricing policy.
According to the State Statistics Service, companies participating in the survey are provided with orders for an average of four months, which is the same as in the first quarter.
The agency notes that in the second quarter of 2023, financial constraints (about 45%), insufficient demand (35%) and other factors (64%) affected construction.
Some 36% of surveyed companies expect a reduction in the number of employees in April-June, while 54% believe that their number will remain the same, and 10% – will increase.
According to the service, 54% of respondents noted a decrease in the volume of construction work performed in the last quarter, 18% announced an increase in volumes.
The survey showed that 99% of companies find it rather difficult to predict the future development of the business situation in enterprises.
