Canada to provide 19 Ukrainian territorial communities with expert assistance during restoration

KYIV. Jan 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Canada will provide its social and economic support for restoration projects in 19 Ukrainian communities within the framework of the Community-led Inclusive Recovery (CLIR) initiative, the press service of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine has said.

“The CLIR initiative will allow our citizens to understand better the priorities of restoration, gain necessary knowledge and tools for the development of their own comprehensive restoration projects taking into account the needs of all population groups,” Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov, who is also the Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, was quoted as saying in the press release.

The communities in Kyiv region (Baryshivka, Hlevakha, Boyarka, Velyka Dymerka), Dnipropetrovsk region (Sofiyivka, Pershotravensk, Apostolove, Zelenodolsk), Mykolaiv region (Bashtanka, Bereznehuvate), Odesa region (Shabo, Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky), Chernihiv region (Kholmy, Korop, Mena), Donetsk region and Kharkiv region (Blyzniuky, Savyntsi, Balakliya) were selected for the participation in the program.

Experts will provide the communities with assistance in strategic management and planning, establishing partnership with international organizations and attracting foreign investment, social services development, sustainable development principles, development of restoration plan and strategies.

The CLIR initiative is being implemented by the Support to Ukraine’s Government Reforms (SURGe) project, which is funded by the Government of Canada.
