KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo transferred UAH 19.8 billion to the state-owned enterprise Guaranteed Buyer for the service of providing affordable electricity to household consumers (public service obligations (PSO) for January-October 2023, which is 54% more than the amount paid for the same period in 2022.
“Ukrhydroenergo bears a significant financial burden under PSO, playing a key role in ensuring the stability and reliability of the supply of electric energy to households,” the company said on its website on Friday.
As reported, the general director of the generating company, Ihor Syrota, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine at the end of November, said that the company’s PSO volume by the end of the year will increase to approximately UAH 24-25 billion compared to the projected UAH 22 billion in the spring, which was affected by the increase in price for electricity for households from June 1.
“The income is increasing, but the PSO is also increasing. It will not stand still because the difference between the price for household consumers and the price in the market is also increasing. We may earn a little more, but we pay more under the PSO. Therefore, for us, when there is a PSO, the issue of increasing the tariff is not the main one,” the general director of Ukrhydroenergo said.
He said that of the total volume of PSO of approximately UAH 135-140 billion, Ukrhydroenergo pays UAH 25 billion and National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom covers the rest.
“That is, our funds are just over 20%,” Syrota said.
