Electricity sales volume at DAM grow by 14% in Nov, prices remain stable

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In November 2022, 1.607 million MWh of electricity was accepted on the day-ahead market (DAM) in the Integrated Power System (IPS) of Ukraine, and 0.226 million MWh on the intraday market (IDM), which, respectively, 14% and 35.8% more than in October 2022 (1.408 million MWh and 0.166 million MWh).

According to the data from the report of JSC Market Operator for November, in general, 1.833 million MWh were sold on the spot market (DAM + VSR) of Ukraine during this month, which is 16.3% more than in October (1.575 million MWh).

"In November 2022, the demand for the purchase of electricity at the DAM increased by 10%, while the supply for sale increased by 9.1%. At the IDM, the demand for the purchase increased by 18.5%, the supply increased by 21.3%," the Market Operator said.

The BASE price index on the DAM of Ukraine in November amounted to UAH 3,306.69/MWh, having actually remained at the level of October (UAH 3,301.71/MWh).

At the same time, the weighted average electricity purchase and sale price in November on the DAM decreased 2.9% compared to October, to UAH 3,433.50/MWh versus UAH 3,535.24/MWh in the previous month.

At IDM, the weighted average price of electricity accepted in November was fixed at UAH 3,406.88/MWh, which is 5.7% less than in October (UAH 3,611.77/MWh).

As the Market Operator said, at present the average prices for electricity on the DAM of Ukraine are less than the average prices for the DAM of Romania, Slovakia and Hungary by more than 58%.

At the same time, according to the company, the BASE index on the DAM of Ukraine is 3.1% lower than the BASE index on the bilateral agreements market (BAM).
