KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Over the past 24 hours, the Russian occupation forces shelled the territory near one of the thermal power plants (TPP) in the Donbas, no casualties were reported, the Energy Ministry of Ukraine said on Tuesday.
In addition, equipment at one of the oil refining facilities was damaged as a result of the shelling.
The ministry also said that a fire broke out at one of the coalmines in Donetsk region.
“In the evening, due to a voltage drop, a fire broke out in one of the coalmines in Donetsk region. At the time of the emergency, 45 miners were underground. Combustion products did not enter the mine sites. An hour later, the fire was extinguished and the power supply to the mine was restored,” it said.
According to the Energy Ministry, power generating capacities are currently operating as normal. The reserves of coal and fuel oil in warehouses are sufficient for the uninterrupted operation of the TPPs. The volume of generated electricity is sufficient to fully meet the needs of consumers and industry.
“A power unit of one of the thermal power plants has returned to work after scheduled repairs. It will add an additional 250 MW of power to the power grid,” the ministry said.
Over the past 24 hours, as a result of hostilities in Donetsk region, more than 9,000 subscribers were switched off from power supply. Power lines were also damaged in Kharkiv region. Demining of the territories of energy facilities continues with the involvement of sappers and special equipment.
In Chernihiv region, as a result of shelling, the overhead line was switched off, leaving more than 200 consumers without power supply.
In Kherson, over the past 24 hours, power engineers restored power supply to more than 3,600 residents.
“In total, power engineers resumed power supply for almost 27,000 consumers during the day. Consumers in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions are partially left without power supply,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, over the past 24 hours, electricity exports to Slovakia, Romania and Moldova amounted to 1,720 MWh, imports from these countries – 1,176 MWh.
