KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Epicenter chain will open its own shopping and entertainment center with rental space and a children’s entertainment center in the spring of 2024 on the site of the Nova Linia hypermarket on Odesa Highway near Kyiv, the company’s press service reported.
“In recent years, our company has transformed the departments of the Epicenter chain into conceptual shop-in-shop formats. Next year, we decided to go further and supplement our shopping centers with external retail chains and an entertainment component in the shopping gallery. The new Epicenter format is part of our strategy for the further development of large-scale shopping and entertainment centers,” Viktoria Zelenska, director of exclusive concepts and development at Epicenter K, said in the press release.
According to the press release, the total area of the new network facility will be 62,000 square meters, while Epicenter’s own retail formats will occupy 53,000 square meters, another 9,000 square meters will be given for rent. The company has already begun the process of signing preliminary agreements with tenants.
The shopping center will also have an underground parking lot for 1,100 cars, where a shelter will be equipped for staff and visitors.
The company expects consistently high visitor traffic due to its location on the Kyiv-Odesa highway with active traffic flow and a developed suburban agglomeration. More than 55,000 people live within a radius of 2 km from the new shopping center; the total coverage area is more than 360,000 people.
Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the Epicenter network united more than 80 shopping centers in all regions of the country. As a result of artillery and rocket attacks by the aggressor, a number of shopping centers were significantly damaged, and four centers in Mariupol, Kherson, Chernihiv and Bucha were completely destroyed. As of October 2023, the network operates 72 shopping centers.
