KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – This year’s last 11th tranche of the European Union’s macro financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1.5 billion is expected to be paid in December, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and the Finance Ministry of Ukraine have said.
“Provided all conditions are met, the last MFA+ payment should come in December – together with assessment of entire programme,” Dombrovskis said on X Social Network on Wednesday.
“It is expected that Ukraine will receive the last tranche of the macro financial assistance in 2023 by the end of December this year if Ukraine carries out all structural policy conditions agreed by the parties,” the ministry said in a press release.
The Finance Ministry also said that it has received the 10th tranche of EUR 1.5 billion on Wednesday after which the total amount of the funds provided by the EU to cover urgent financial needs of the country this year reached EUR 16.5 billion.
As reported, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said earlier on Wednesday that after the latest payment the EU’s support has reached EUR 85 billion. She also announced that the EU will continue to provide Ukraine with further financial assistance.
“More will come. We have proposed EUR 50 billion for Ukraine until 2027,” she said on X Social Network.
The Finance Ministry of Ukraine expects that next year another EUR 18 billion will be allocated from the EUR 50 billion Ukraine Facility program for 2024-2027 to finance the state budget deficit.
