Ex-Board Member of Ukrenergo Bezrukova heads Defense Procurement Agency

KYIV. Jan 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Maryna Bezrukova, who had been Ukrenergo’s Procurement Director since 2018 and Board Member since 2019, has been appointed as head of the Defense Procurement Agency of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.

“The Defense Ministry is building a new procurement architecture that will eliminate the possibility of corruption and will comply with NATO standards. The change of the management is the first step towards a dramatic reboot of the Defense Procurement Agency. Timely and quality supply of everything necessary to our soldiers is our priority. With no room for corruption,” the ministry quoted Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Klymenkov as saying.

Bezrukova said effective and transparent procurement of weapons is a key to national security, while transparency, digitalization and zero tolerance to corruption are the key principles of the agency’s work.

“We should put the focus on innovation and strategic partnership to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the most up-to-date weapons. Through prioritizing advanced technology and constantly improving our own arsenal, we will significantly improve the equipment of our forces,” she said.
