By KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – British Ferrexpo Plc, which controls Poltava Mining and Yeristovo Mining in Ukraine, intends to expand the tailings storage facility of Yeristovo Mining LLC by building another compartment.
According to papers at the disposal of Interfax-Ukraine, the company plans to implement the project on construction and operation of the fourth section of the tailings storage facility of Yeristovo Mining LLC.
At the same time, the planned activity is determined by category No. 21 – "all clear and gradual felling of the main use and clear sanitary felling on an area of more than 1 hectare; all clear sanitary felling in the territories and objects of the natural reserve fund", as well as category No. 11.3 – "sludge collectors and tailings storage facilities" and category No. 2,3 – "change of purpose of farmland (if the new purpose refers to at least one type of activity specified in parts two and three of this article) and change of purpose of especially valuable land."
Details of the project and the amount of funds for it are not made public.
Earlier it was reported that Ferrexpo intends to reconstruct the integral property complex of the pellet production shop at Poltava Mining: it is planned to reconstruct the integral property complex of the pellet production shop in the building of the filtration and averaging building for concentrate No. 1, A and 2, B.
In addition, it was reported at the end of 2021 that the State Environmental Inspectorate fined Ferrexpo’s Yeristovo Mining, with the majority shareholder Kostiantyn Zhevaho, in the amount of UAH 786 million for squatting about 160 hectares of land for waste disposal.
Ferrexpo is an iron ore company with assets in Ukraine.
Ferrexpo fully owns Yeristovo Mining LLC and 99.9% of Belanovo Mining LLC. Prior to the court decision in September 2022, Ferrexpo also owned 100% of the shares of PJSC Poltava Mining.
