Finland sends power transformers, small generators to Ukraine – Ministry of Internal Affairs

KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Before Christmas, Finland sent to Ukraine five trucks with material assistance, including power transformers and small-sized generators, according to the Interior Ministry of Finland.

"To support Ukraine’s energy supply, a truck delivery of supply transformers was sent to Ukraine on December 22. Four trucks sent on December 19 and December 20 contained hospital supplies, rescue services supplies, water purification materials and small-sized generators," the ministry said on website.

Finland also sent school equipment to Ukraine for the first time.

"The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are preparing, in cooperation with various actors, new assistance packages for the energy sector. These will contain, for example, heating equipment, backup power plants, power supply systems, transformers and various components of the electricity grid," the ministry said.

In total, this year Finland delivered 55 trucks of civilian material assistance to Ukraine.

Six fire engines and 13 ambulances were also sent to Ukraine. Bus companies provided about twenty buses, five of which were delivered in early December.

The monetary value of civil material assistance is about EUR 5 million, and aid packages worth several million euros are being prepared. The total mass of aid is about 500 tonnes.
