Flow of gas from EU to Ukraine falls by 28.3% in 2022

KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The supply of natural gas to Ukraine from the countries of the European Union in 2022 amounted to 1.836 billion cubic meters, and it is 28.3% less than in 2021 (2.562 billion cubic meters), according to the data of Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU).

Gas supply to the customs warehouse in UGS facilities last year amounted to 735.9 million cubic meters versus 107.4 million cubic meters for the previous year.

In particular, gas supply to the GTS of Ukraine from Hungary last year amounted to 632.019 million cubic meters (in 2021 it was 2.198 billion cubic meters), Slovakia – 597.933 million cubic meters (285.301 million cubic meters), Poland – 511.208 million cubic meters (78.587 million cubic meters), Romania – 94.692 million cubic meters (0).

Earlier on Monday, the GTSOU reported that since the beginning of 2023, the interest of European traders in the services of the Ukrainian GTS and UGS facilities has increased amid a decrease in gas prices in the EU and storage occupancy by 80%.

In the period from January 1 to January 9, 2023, the flow of natural gas to Ukraine from the EU countries amounted to 118 million cubic meters (including 24 million cubic meters in the Customs Union) versus 249.1 million cubic meters (26.4 million cubic meters) in December 2022 and 228 million cubic meters (191.1 million cubic meters) in November.
