KYIV. Oct 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine, as part of the charity campaign of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership with the support of GIZ Ukraine, will receive 30 aerial towers for the needs of electricity distribution system operators, the Energy Ministry said.
As noted in its release on Wednesday, the campaign is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
“We thank our German partners for this assistance. It is extremely important for supporting energy workers working on the ground and daily restoring networks that are constant targets of attacks by Russian terrorists,” Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said, whose words are quoted in the release.
The Energy Ministry said to date Germany has made the largest contribution, EUR130 million, to Ukraine Energy Support Fund. In addition, as of October 2023, some 95 humanitarian aid cargoes with a total weight of over 1,500 tonnes were received from Germany to Ukraine, including 284 power transformers, some 63 generators, voltage transformers, current transformers and other equipment necessary for the energy sector.
As reported, at the end of July, the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, created in April 2022 by the Secretariat of the Energy Community, had already accumulated approximately $220 million, and by the end of the year it is expected to increase to $300 million.
