Govt center to be established tentatively in H1 2023 – Shmyhal

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal expects the establishment of the Government Center approximately in the first half of 2023.

"This is a very pragmatic question. As analysis has shown, today in every ministry, in every executive body, from 40 to 60% of the costs go to service functions. So why not do it in the center? The entire civilized world is following this path, companies combine and digitalize many departments in different countries: accounting, personnel, document management. Therefore, if some auxiliary function can be combined and multiple budget savings can be obtained from this, this should be done," Shmyhal said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question of what the idea of creating the Government Center is.

The Prime Minister noted that if the Government Center is created, which will provide the services of the personnel department, accounting, preparation of documents to each ministry, then a huge amount of expenses can be cut in the ministries themselves.

"I would like us to implement this approximately in the first half of next year. My dream is that the entire government of Ukraine would fit in this building [Government House on Hrushevskoho Street]. If you place everything here, you can’t even imagine how much bureaucracy and decision-making time will be reduced, as well as coordination will be strengthened. It is definitely possible, I am deeply convinced of this," he summed up.

As reported, Shmyhal says that the reform of the structure of the Cabinet of Ministers will be carried out step by step as decisions are ready.
