KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Based on the results of the second international summit of the Ukrainian humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine, Ukraine expects to prepare a plan for the export of food, in particular grain, to countries in need, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky said during the national marathon.
“Thanks to the decision of the first summit and according to financial assistance to countries, primarily Africa and Asia, in cooperation with the UN, Ukraine managed to supply several hundred thousand [tonnes of] free food, wheat and other things, to countries that need it,” the deputy minister recalled.
According to him, work is currently underway in a similar direction – proposals are being collected to clearly fix how much it will be possible to help supply Ukrainian food, first of all, to the countries of Africa and Asia.
“The main goal is to ensure free access to Ukrainian food to countries that need it… It is very important that this free access is permanent, safe and allows countries that are net food importers to buy these products at an affordable price for their own consumers,” Vysotsky said.
According to him, based on the results of the summit, in which more than 30 countries confirmed their participation, a new plan for next year will be announced.
