KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NPC Ukrenergo and Hyundai Engineering & Construction have signed a memorandum of understanding.
As Board Chairman of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky reported on his Facebook, the signing took place at the ReBuild Ukraine conference in Warsaw in the presence of Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Haluschenko.
“We have recorded intentions to jointly explore future areas of cooperation and the potential opportunity for Hyundai E&C to participate in Ukrenergo projects. This is a logical step after the South Korean government at the G20 summit announced its readiness to allocate $2.3 billion over two years for restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure,” the head of Ukrenergo wrote.
He also said that at the conference the Ukrenergo team held a number of meetings with officials and large businesses from the United States, Canada, Finland, Norway and South Korea.
“The governments of these countries previously stated that in the coming years they plan to allocate a total of more than $4 billion for the restoration of Ukraine. But our partners and investors need specific projects for investment. We discussed with them the possibilities of investing in the development of interstate interconnectors, the construction of storage systems and decentralized generation,” Kudrytsky said.
At the same time, he expressed the conviction that world business is looking for opportunities for investment in Ukraine and Ukrainian energy should become a key industry for successful investments in its development, and therefore in the development of European energy security.
“We, as an operator of the energy system, are ready to assist both Hyundai E&C and other companies in effectively studying the investment attractiveness of energy projects,” the head of Ukrenergo said.
