KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Demining units of government agencies and non-governmental operators, as part of priority demining, in November examined more than 17,000 hectares of agricultural land, in total since the beginning of the year – more than 257,000 hectares of land, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported.
“Despite the worsening weather conditions, our deminers continue to work on surveying and demining the most valuable Ukrainian lands. In the last week of November, more than 3,000 hectares were surveyed, and more than 1,500 hectares were cleared or demined. Since the beginning of the year, almost 195,000 hectares have been returned to farmers for economic exploitation,” the press service quoted First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to the report, the largest areas were surveyed in November in Kherson region – 12,400 hectares, Kharkiv region – more than 3,500 hectares, and Mykolaiv region – more than 1,300 hectares.
