Insurers-members of MTIBU increase premiums under compulsory motor liability insurance policies by 25.8%, payments by 40.4% in Jan-Nov

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Insurance companies-members of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) in January-November 2023 signed 7.017 million policies of compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles (OSAGO), which is 7.75% more than in the same period in 2022.

According to data published on the MTIBU website, 4.816 million policies were signed in digital form, which is 20.03% more than in January-November last year.

In January-November 2023, members of the Bureau increased the collection of insurance premiums under OSAGO policies by 25.78% compared to the comparable period in 2022, to UAH 7.917 billion, including UAH 5.943 billion (38.34% more) under digital policies.

The total volume of accrued insurance compensation under internal insurance policies grew by 40.4%, to UAH 3.495 billion, including UAH 775.4 million paid using EU accident reports (49.58% more).

The bureau also recorded an increase in the number of settled claims for insurance compensation by 15.8%, to 116,400, including data on the use of EU accident reports – 47,000 (18.4% more).

MTIBU is the only association of insurers in Ukraine that provides compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles for damage caused to third parties. The members of the Bureau are 35 insurance companies.
