KYIV. Nov 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe, as part of the implementation of an updated strategy in conditions of uncertainty, increased the export of pipes and railway products to the markets of the USA, the European Union and the Middle East.
As Serhiy Kuzmenko, director of economics and finance at Interpipe, said during the XXI Ukrainian CFO Forum, the company began geographic diversification of sales almost 10 years ago and has now shown its justification, since the domestic market is narrow, and foreign partners, having supported the country, temporarily abolished duties and quotas.
Thanks to the AFU, Interpipe enterprises have the opportunity to work, providing work in the front-line region and paying taxes to budgets of all levels. However, no less important is the long-term development strategy, due to which the company has become less vulnerable to external factors. We are talking, first of all, about increasing the share of export sales of pipes and railway products in the main export markets – the European Union, the USA and the Middle East.
Since 2015, the company has increased its share of sales of technically more complex premium products from 6% to 19% in 2022. It is in these areas that large amounts of money have been invested in new equipment for the production of pipes with gas-tight connections and railway wheels for the passenger segment for export markets. After the European Union had lifted trade barriers, it became possible to enter new niches in the pipe market and offer complex solutions with added value.
