Kamet Steel increases production efficiency, reduces electricity, gas consumption

KYIV. Oct 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kamet Steel plant of the Metinvest mining and metallurgical group, created at the facilities of Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (Dnipropetrovsk region), carried out a number of measures to increase the efficiency of the units and reduce the consumption of electricity and natural gas.

According to a press release, in particular, the cost factor of the metal was reduced from 1,026.9 kg to 1,026.2 kg per tonne of finished rolled products. This was achieved primarily by optimizing the settings of the tribe devices of the 400/200 mill slitting line. The introduction of these measures made it possible to reduce the cut on the cold cutting knife in the production of reinforcing profiles.

By optimizing the scheme for planting metal in the heating furnace during rolling of wire rod with diameters of 5.5 mm and 6 mm, it was possible to reduce natural gas consumption by 53,000 cubic meters.

One of the recently developed new profiles with increased margins is a ball with a diameter of 100 mm, which is necessary for the stable operation of mining and processing plants. In September, 1,000 tonnes of such products were shipped to Ukrainian consumers.

Kamet Steel was created on the basis of PrJSC Dniprovsky Coke Chemical Plant and JSC Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant. According to the report of the parent company Metinvest Group for 2020, Metinvest B.V. (the Netherlands) owned 100% of the shares of Dniprovsky Coke Chemical Plant.
