Kazakhstan exploring possibility of trial oil shipment to Germany in Jan 2023 – oil and gas company head

ASTANA. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kazakhstan is exploring the possibility of a trial oil shipment to Germany in January 2023, head of the KazMunayGas state oil and gas company Magzum Mirzagaliyev said.

"On the orders from the Kazakh president, KazMunayGas is considering a trial oil shipment to Germany as early as in January 2023," the company’s press service quoted Mirzagaliyev as saying.

According to the press service, Mirzagaliyev met with State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Michael Kellner and German parliament member Christian Gehrke from the Left Party in Astana on December 20.

The sides discussed Kazakh oil exports.

The German parliament member expressed an interest in the stable oil supply from Kazakhstan through the Druzhba pipeline. The KazMunayGas head confirmed the possibility of Kazakh oil exports to Germany through the pipeline but said that certain contractual and technical issues needed to be resolved, the press service said.

Kazakh Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said earlier that Kazakhstan might consider proposals to supply oil to Europe.

KazMunayGas is the Kazakh national operator of hydrocarbon prospecting, production, refinery and transportation, which represents the state’s interests in the oil and gas industry.
