KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kiliya Shipbuilding and Repair Yard, which is part of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP), repaired nine self-propelled and 29 non-self-propelled units of the fleet in January-October 2022, Dmytro Moskalenko, head of the UDP, said on Facebook.
"In the near future there is a major project for the modernization of two dry cargo ships, which were laid up for a long time and were not used," he said.
According to the head of the UDP, for these ships it is planned to replace engines with new, more economical and powerful ones.
Moskalenko pointed out that now the UDP is experiencing an acute shortage of non-self-propelled ships, therefore, the future plans of the shipping company include not only repair, but also construction of a new non-self-propelled fleet.
"In the future, we strive to strengthen our production capacities, attract investments in modern equipment, organize interaction and joint projects with well-known international shipbuilding companies, invite experienced specialists – shipbuilders from Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa," the head of the UDP added.
