KSG Agro completes corn harvesting

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The agricultural holding KSG Agro has completed harvesting corn on an area of 920 hectares with an average yield of 3 tonnes/ha, according to a press release from the agrarian group on Tuesday.

"This year, farmers have faced a difficult situation – high humidity of corn, which is a real problem for farmers, because it requires additional costs for drying crops. For our crop, the humidity index was 20%. Non-standard humidity and the inability to harvest corn on schedule due to weather conditions have become the features of this harvesting campaign," the holding company quotes the head of its crop division, Dmytro Yemelchenko.

For corn harvesting, KSG Agro used four harvesters – two John Deere and two CLAAS Lexions, as well as 12 harvest trucks. The harvested crop will be used, among other things, in production of compound feed for stable operation of the holding’s pig farm.

The agrarian group also recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, it has shipped more than UAH 10 million worth of pork to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and medical facilities of Dnipropetrovsk region. In addition, the holding actively participates in the program for production of stew for the army needs, which was initiated by Kryvy Rih military administration, providing 40 tonnes of meat products for free.

The vertically integrated holding KSG Agro is engaged in pig breeding, as well as production, storage, processing and sale of grains and oilseeds. Its land bank is about 21,000 hectares.

According to the agricultural holding, it is in the top five pork producers in Ukraine.
