KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has commented on a statement made by Spokesperson for the United States Department of State Matthew Miller who said Washington would not keep military financing for Ukraine at the level of 2022-2023.
“It is not about assistance in 2024. The Department of State said that when Ukraine gets back on its feet, has enough weapons and resources to resist the Russian aggression, then the amount of assistance might be reduced. But it is not about cutting it in 2024, because, as the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State said, Ukraine is not there yet and it needs assistance in the stated amount,” he said during a live conversation with journalist Vadym Karpyak on Instagram on Friday.
As reported, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Matthew Miller told a press briefing that the United States would support Ukraine, but not at the same level of military funding as in 2022 and 2023, adding that Washington’s goal is to help Kyiv build its own military-industrial base.
