Kyiv announces tender for purchase of trolleybuses for EUR 50 mln at expense of EIB

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The municipal enterprise Kyivpasstrans within the framework of the Ukraine Urban Public Transport program, financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), has announced a tender for the purchase of trolleybuses of over 11.9 meters and 18.5 meters long for a total estimated amount of EUR 50 million.

According to the invitation to the tender, published on Monday in the ProZorro system, with reference to an announcement in the EU Official Journal, the purchase of 100% low-floor trolleybuses, including a set of spare parts and consumables, a set of equipment & tools for maintenance, repair & related services, is expected.

Applications for participation in the tender are accepted until March 15, 2023.

The supplier shall supply trolleybuses with a possibility of autonomous movement of at least 20 km (with passengers) at a speed of at least 55 km/h. Passenger capacity of a 12-meter trolleybus is 90 (±5%) people, including 28 seats (±10%) and one place for a wheelchair; 18-meter – respectively 170 passengers, including about 45 seats and one place for a wheelchair.

The first batch of trolleybuses shall be delivered no later than 24 weeks after the supplier receives the advance payment, and the completion of the contract no later than 78 weeks.

The contract will be funded by the EIB and governed by its procurement guide.

As reported, on December 10, 2021, the EIB and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko signed a loan agreement worth EUR 100 million for a project to upgrade the trolleybus fleet, as well as the car fleet of the Kyiv’s subway. This was the first loan from the EIB in Ukraine offered directly to the city without state guarantees.

The tender was postponed due to the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine that began on February 24 this year.
