Kyivstar increases 4G coverage in Q3 2023, builds 600 new base stations

KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The largest Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar increased its 4G network coverage in July-September 2023, built 600 new ones and modernized 1,500 base stations, its company’s press service said.

“The Kyivstar team built another 600 new 4G base stations in the third quarter of 2023, and also modernized almost 1,500 mobile communication base stations. Another 54 settlements were connected to the 4G network. Now 4G communications from Kyivstar are available for 94.7% of the population in the controlled territory,” the company saod in the statement.

In addition, it is reported that Kyivstar’s capital expenditures for the specified period exceeded UAH 3.7 billion, due to which more than 99% of the communications network in the Ukrainian-controlled territory operates as usual. The plans include $600 million in investments in the development of new communication technologies over the next three years.

According to the operator, in the third quarter of 2023, subscribers increased the use of mobile Internet services by 17.7% year-over-year. At the same time, the number of users of 4G services increased by 13.1%, to 13.7 million, which became possible thanks to the development of the 4G network and the proposed tariffs with a large volume of megabytes.

It is noted that the total number of subscribers in the third quarter decreased by 1.1% due to the impact of war factors, including population migration outside the country and the temporary occupation of a number of settlements.

According to the press service, Kyivstar continued to develop digital services for online education, health care, and digital television services Kyivstar TV. According to its data, in the third quarter the number of subscribers using multiservice services increased by 21.4%.

In addition, Kyivstar continued to implement charitable projects to help subscribers and Ukrainian society. In particular, the We Live Here project is being implemented, the goal of which is to clear the territory of Ukraine from explosive objects. For this project, thanks to the company’s services, it was possible to collect UAH 120 million. At the same time, the operator’s contribution directly exceeded UAH 20 million.
