KYIV. Nov 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The largest mobile operator in Ukraine, Kyivstar, expects revenue growth in 2023 to be 10-12% instead of the 6-7% previously predicted, company president Oleksandr Komarov said at Business Breakfast.
“I think that Kyivstar will be approximately in the middle of the entire industry. Growth will be approximately 10-12% year on year for 2023, unless force majeure occurs,” he said.
According to Komarov, in the third quarter the company is also achieving a significant increase in performance, but this is due to the low performance of the second quarter of 2022.
“In the fourth quarter, we will return to the same pace as in the second quarter. This is approximately 10-11% year on year,” the company’s president said.
According to him, for the entire 2022, Kyivstar increased revenue in hryvnia by 7-8% and predicted growth in 2023 by 5-6%.
Kyivstar’s performance exceeded forecasts due to a number of factors, in particular due to the stability of the roaming base, the company’s president said.
“We expected that base roaming activity would decline in 2023. We did not feel this,” he said, noting that roaming subscribers use services at a level of approximately 60% of routine use in Ukraine.
The domestic subscriber base has increased, thanks to the liberation of the occupied territories in the second half of 2022.
Another factor that contributed to the growth of the company’s performance was changes in pricing.
Komarov said that the mass user segment has remained stable over the past two years, while in the business segment the active base has been declining since the beginning of 2022. This was also reflected in the decrease in the number of users of additional B2B services, in particular Big Data.
“There was a failure, and it did not stop. If we are talking about the base of the mass segment, then everything is more or less stable there. But the business has been gradually declining throughout the entire time. We are not seeing an increase in staff numbers, the opening of new businesses or dynamic development,” Komarov said.
