KYIV. Oct 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – From October 16 to October 22, DTEK energy workers restored power to more than 77,000 families in 68 settlements of Donetsk, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, which were cut off due to enemy shelling.
“The intensification of hostilities in Donetsk region is causing constant damage to grids and equipment. Over the past week, power engineers managed to restore electricity to more than 71,000 houses in 63 settlements that were damaged due to regular shelling in the region,” DTEK Grids said in a press release on Tuesday.
According to the company, Dnipropetrovsk region, especially the south, is increasingly suffering from shelling. Here it was possible to return light to the homes of more than 5,000 residents of four settlements.
“Due to regular arrivals, the grids of Odesa region are also damaged. In particular, last week, due to enemy shelling, electrical grid facilities were damaged and more than 300 families lost power. Energy workers quickly restored the damage and returned power supply to the homes of Odesa region residents affected by the shelling,” the energy holding said.
“Since the beginning of a full-scale war, we have already returned power to 9 million families in Kyiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Odesa region, Donbas and the city of Kyiv. In some settlements close to the combat zone, we have returned power dozens of times,” General Director of DTEK Grids Oleksandr Fomenko said.
DTEK Grids energy workers begin eliminating damage to networks as soon as they receive permission and access to the damage site from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service.
