Lithuania to give Ukraine 155-mm ammunition, winter uniforms – Defense Minister Anusauskas

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Lithuanian Minister of Defense Arvydas Anušauskas announced the transfer of 155-mm caliber ammunition to Ukraine in the near future.

"It has already been decided regarding the nearest military support – ammunition for the 155-mm artillery, which is urgently needed at the frontline, will be transferred. The Defense Resources Agency of the Ministry of Defense has signed contracts with manufacturers to restore these stocks," Anušauskas said on Facebook.

According to him, a contract with manufacturers of winter clothes for Ukrainian soldiers will be fulfilled within a month. "There will be more support, but we cannot announce everything," the head of the Lithuanian defense ministry said.

Anušauskas announced the signing of contracts for 2023 with a Lithuanian business producing military equipment necessary for Ukraine. "Certainly, if producers are ready and able to increase their production potential," he said.

"Lithuania will also contribute to the international fund for financing heavy armored vehicles, their production or modernization and acquisition. So, if anything, there will be tanks handed over to Ukrainians at our expense," the minister said.

The head of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry also announced the expansion of military training courses for Ukrainians to 1,500 soldiers, excluding those undergoing training this year.

"Lithuania’s support to Ukraine and its citizens (refugees) is currently estimated at more than EUR 640 million. Of these, 36% or EUR 232 million goes to military support," Anušauskas said.
