LVIV. March 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A memorandum approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the International Criminal Court (ICC) will allow opening the Office of the ICC Prosecutor and more effectively investigating international crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin emphasizes.
“Today, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a memorandum between the government of Ukraine and the International Criminal Court, which will soon open the Office of the ICC Prosecutor in Ukraine. This, in turn, will allow the ICC prosecutor to investigate international crimes that have been committed in Ukraine even more fully,” Kostin said on Friday in Lviv during the opening of the international conference United for justice.
At the same time, Kostin drew attention to the fact that the ICC cannot hold accountable for the crimes of aggression committed by the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that it is necessary to create a Special International Tribunal to bring to justice for the crime of aggression.
