Metinvest hands over 312 vehicles, 1 mln liters of fuel to army

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group handed over almost 1 million liters of fuel and 312 vehicles of various types to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to a press release from the company, this way increases the mobility of defenders as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative.

"The war of the 21st century is a confrontation of technologies. Therefore, the advantage on the battlefield often depends on equipping the troops with the necessary equipment. In addition to weapons, vehicles are important. They help to strengthen positions, provide the necessary units, move quickly and be one step ahead of the enemy. For our defenders to be mobile, the Metinvest group sends fuel and vehicles to the front lines," the group said in the press release.

At the same time, during the ten months of the full-scale war, Metinvest provided more than UAH 2.8 billion for Ukraine to survive and win. More than half of this amount – UAH 1.5 billion – went to the needs of the army and the troops.

So, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, special-purpose vehicles from the company’s enterprises were handed over to the defenders. These were trucks, bulldozers, excavators. They were used for the construction of fortifications and protective structures.

Metinvest, under the Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, organized the delivery of vehicles from abroad. Pickup trucks, four-wheel drive jeeps and minibuses were mainly bought and sent to the front line – they are needed on all sectors of the front to deliver ammunition and personnel, evacuate the wounded, transport important cargo, relocate, and carry out raids behind enemy lines.

In addition, Metinvest provided military doctors of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with ambulance vehicles. A total of 20 specialized vehicles were purchased in Europe to save the lives of wounded soldiers.

Metinvest Group also donates fuel for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defense Forces. For refueling vehicles and military equipment, the defenders were given almost 1 million liters of gasoline and diesel fuel. This especially supported the troops in the spring, when there was not enough fuel on the market. And the scarce product is systematically sent to the communities of Avdiyivka so that critical infrastructure services take care of the citizens.

"Our defenders are pushing hard to clear Ukraine of enemy. And we have made sure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have vehicles and full tanks of fuel. This war is built on mobility and the ability to get ahead of opponents. That is why we are also transferring technological drones and thermal imagers to the troops. And while the defenders are defending the independence of our country at the forefront, the Metinvest group is their reliable support in approaching the victory of Ukraine," Metinvest CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov said, quoted by the press service.
